EPIC Golf Day 2009 Sunshine Coast

The EPIC Golf Day, held on September 4th at Noosa Springs, was a great success, with positive feedback from all attendees.

The field totalled approximately 100 players, including Australia Zoo, Novotel and Bunnings.

The day progressed very smoothly, with the new addition of an early start, enabling the players to be back in the clubhouse for midday refreshments and to award the winners with their trophies. We also staged our first auction, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

IGA Woombye proved for the second consecutive year to be the hardest team to beat, winning first place and the EPIC Shield.

Disability Action Week Awards 2009

Bunnings-award

In August the QLD State Government called for nominations of businesses to be considered for the Disability Action Week Awards on 15th September, 2009.  EPIC nominated Bunnings Stafford in the “Private Enterprise” category of the awards, as their support & placement of people with disabilities has now reached 10% of the outlet’s total workforce.

State Minister for Disability Services and Multicultural Affairs, Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, chose Bunnings Stafford as the overall winner. There were a total of 46 businesses in the running for the award, which was based on the following criteria:

• Quality of nomination put forward by organisation

• Undertaking of community projects that promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with a disability

• Pursued employment practices that value employee diversity

• Uses its diverse workforce to create and/or support business opportunities

The award ceremony was held at the Brisbane Convention Centre, with EPIC representatives in attendance
