Good News Story – Get Set For Work

July saw the Get Set for Work (GSFW) team busy assisting their clients prepare for both work and further training (depending on their individual case plan). Along with their regular duties, staff have been gathering local letters of support and information to assist with next year’s funding application. Each of the GSFW programs will be looking to grow the number of clients in 2012 and we have been meeting with the Department contract managers for each region to discuss the opportunities that exist.

Good news story

A presentation was held at EPIC Southport’s office for one young client who won the prize for developing a promotional ‘EPIC’ tattoo. EPIC’s Assistant Marketing Manager, Jeff Marshall, presented the award while the rest of the participants organised a delicious morning tea. We were also pleased to welcome our new Department Education, Employment, Development and Innovation (DEEDI) Project Manager, Tracey Castle and Regional Manager, Deb Sanderson who were very pleased to be invited and share in the festivities.
Another one of our Southport clients, Tyson, is achieving exceptional results and has begun studying a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Care Management. He is also participating in work experience at a local coffee shop, is self-funding his own driving lessons and attending a fitness centre four days per week. Tyson’s positive attitude, focus on his goals and making the most of his opportunities to has been inspiring for both staff and clients within the EPIC Southport service centre.
